Pros:
Reduces volume to acceptable levels for practice in a shared house or flat. Cheap, easy to fit, lasts forever. You are practicing with your own fiddle, not a 'skeleton' fiddle.
Cons:
The top of the bridge has to be sufficiently tapered for the mute to fit. However, the clip can be eased out a bit if necessary.
Other:
I bought this for a friend, but have been using one for years. I wish I had discovered this great mute when I was much younger, as it opens up all sorts of new practice opportunities, for example early mornings.

Pros:
In fact I was buying a Tonwolf for my neice as she is worried about the neighbours so I thought I'd get one for myself as well. The Tonwolf (what I have always known as a hotel mute) was equally as effective as my chunk of led piping on the old fashioned large wooden mute I've had for years, but it's better looking.
Cons:
The Tonewolf has to be adjusted to the bridge and needs a fairly strong wrench with a screwdriver to open the metal grips. I used it on two instruments and slightly damaged the bridge of on because the grips were too tight.
Other:
I think hotel mutes are invaluable. This one is very effective but needs care i fitting it.
