Not quite a string for all seasons

Pros: Very comfortable under the fingers, easily responds to the bow, and can produce an appealing tone with power (when needed) or subtlety (ditto). The strings really do need a week to settle down. Rather less expensive than many strings but certainly not a 'poor relation' to other manufacturers - don't let the fact that they are American put you off.

Cons: On my 16.5-inch viola the tone becomes less and less focussed as one rises up the string into high positions - one really has to work with the bow/fingers to get a 'shape' to the required pitch.

Other: For a violist who, for the moment, is not going to venture up the fingerboard very much, these strings are a good purchase and will last a good while.
