Thumbs up from me

Pros: It works!

Cons: Nothing

Other: I've tried several sorts - rubber ones etc. - but this works the best. May even be able to put my electric violin away and use my proper one without disturbing the family.

Good mute - you can't go quiter then this

Pros: The mute dumpens approximately 50% of the sound so it is good to practice during late hours.

Cons: The musical notes sound differently with the mute on so as a begginer it is a problem in recognizing them.

Very effective

Pros: This mute really provides very significant quietening of my violin. Makes late evening practice acceptable to others which is great given my lack of skill.

Cons: None

Professional

Very quiet but weighty.

Pros: Quietens the instrument to a level which makes it inaudible to students' neighbours. Actually improves tone when used with self-concious learners who 'tickle' the strings and bow too lightly.

Cons: Not much; chords are not always as quiet as single-note melody lines, but it still helps a great deal. It does add significant weight to the intrument and obscures the contact point where bow hair meets string. These are minor issues and would not prevent me from recommending this mute.

Other: I have owned one for ages and recommend these to all my students and other players who do not want to disturb others but want/need to practise.

A very worthwile purchase!
1 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: I am keen to practice as much as I can but living in a flat makes that not so easy. The practice mute enables me to keep going without disturbing my neighbours!

Cons: It does make the violin a lot heavier which can take a bit of getting used to.

Worth the purchase

Pros: Good solid product, quietest mute you're likely to find

Cons: Maybe not as quiet as expected, but as good as a mute is going to get
