Highly recommended as a violin E string
Pros: Wonderfully clear sound quality in all positions of the string when played. Gorgeous tone and doesn’t whistle!
Cons: None
Other: Bought this E string alongside a set of Pirastro Obligato strings and they blend very well together. No tin-like sounds at all.

Poor sound
Pros: It plays easily and clearly and is more or less immune to whistling, so it lives up to its name.
Cons: On my fiddle it has a very poor tone with a tendency towards shrillness.
Other: It might just be my instrument (an anonymous 19th century German trade fiddle), but I've tried this E string twice now with both Helicore and Obligato strings and I didn't like it at all. Played towards the fingerboard it has an unpleasant nasal quality and nearer the bridge it quickly becomes shrill, overpowering the other strings. I've heard both good and bad reviews from people I know who've tried one, so it might suit some instruments more than others. Good service from The String Zone as always, but I won't buy one of these again.

My favourite E string - folk fiddle
Pros: This is by far the best E-string I have used so will always have a spare on hand. I can genuinely say it does not whistle, but more than that, the wound nature of the string means you get a much more even tone especially when you are playing across the A and E string a lot - such as in traditional and folk music. I also sometimes find I lose volume on E string playing when playing with my group but this string hold up really well.
Cons: Nothing - it's worth the higher price and seems to be lasting well.
