Colourful
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Both D and A strings give a rich tone with ability to produce more tonal colour than other strings

Cons: a bit pricy compared to standard string (but worth it)

try it -you will enjoy Larsen cello upper two
3 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: the Larsen D for cello is similarly fine in response and gives a warm rich tone on the instrument; the match of both the A and D is a must, and is worth every experiment. I like the Larsen quality- we are lucky they became popular.

Cons: Cannot think of many contra comments- it is a classy string which makes sense, can possibly lack brilliance but furnishes a nice sound

A lemon or a counterfeit of low quality?

Pros: Loud and dynamically responsive.

Cons: A very strong buzz was evident immediately on playing the string, the buzz only observed when playing the D (both arco and pizzicato). The cello was checked for potential sources of buzzing such as the tailpiece adjusters and the scroll nut without success in identifying a reason for the buzz. I played on the string for a week in the hope that the string would play in. This did not improve the buzzing. I changed the string back to the previous Larsen medium string, with an immediate elimination of the buzz.

Other: The string was obtained from String Zone well packed , both inner plastic and outer paper perforated seals were intact on receipt.

Made a huge difference

Pros: Made a real difference to the weakest string on my cello.

Cons: Possibly a little harder to persuade into sounding.

Good choice for my cello

Pros: Pairs well with the Larson soloist A string - even sound production over the two strings

Cons: Nothing to contribute here

Lovely
1 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: It speaks and resonates! Another inner string that will stand up to me and give proper sound, rather than giving me a fight like my cello has done previously....

Cons: If anything I'd like more body to the sound, but that might just be my technique!

Other: Enhanced by the bottom end Magnacores, finally a (tonally) mid-range string that isn't compromised

One of the best, if not the best!
1 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: An excellent string, quick to settle down and great response across the entire register. I have been testing different strings for a new instrument and the Larsen D is clearly one of the best (specially combined with Larsen wire core G and C!)

Cons: Nothing

Will replace like for like.
1 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Stayed well in tune remarkably quickly when first put on.

Cons: Wolf note seems a little stronger on D string than with previous make of string.

Other: Feels different from regular Larsen, but I quickly got used to it.Haven't had it long enough to judge reliability or durability.

Would recommend
2 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: Nice sound - smooth and rounded especially higher up the string. Easy to play

Cons: Playing nearer the bridge seems for me and my instrument more important for focus higher up the string maybe than with other strings, but that's not a problem
