Pros: As a beginner violinist in a shared (terraced!) house, I was keen to find something to dampen the sound of my violin whilst still allowing me to hear what I was playing and this is perfect. The quality of sound is obviously not as good as playing without it but it sounds much better than I thought it would from reading reviews. It just sounds 'closer' and doesn't carry as far. Aside from it also being a cheap option, I don't think it will inflict any damage on my violin. Other users should be aware that this device just sits neatly on the top of the bridge and I don't think is designed for pushing right the way down. At least, mine doesn't go much further down with ease and yet still functions from being on the the top half-or-so of the bridge.
Cons: If you're looking for something to silence the violin, this is not it but it does cut down the amount the sound carries so that you could play in the next room and not bother housemates/neighbours/family, etc.
Other: Excellent service from the String Zone, especially over the festive period! My order was placed late on 28th December, processed on 29th, shipped on 30th and received on 31st of December. Plus, free delivery! Very pleased.

Pros: easy to fit, won't damage the bridge, works well, easy to carry in violin case
Cons: nothing I didn't like
Other: the level of sound using it is good for me, but others may like something with a heavier mute

Pros: i like 'Ultra' violin practice mute because it is a useful thing for me as i can practise my violin in a lower sound which will not interrupt other people.
Cons: no comment.
Other: I would like to complain about the delivery because it made me wait for at least three weeks and i didn't receive the product that i purchased.

Not really a practice mute - disappointing!
Pros: Ok if you need a small amount of muting without losing too much tone.
Cons: Not really a practice mute . According to my decibel reader in my phone it was barely any different to my normal torte mute!
Other: If you want a proper practice mute my advice is avoid this - go for the artino of even quieter solid metal one. I bought the artino afterwards and it’s way better than this one. I decided to keep this ultra anyway for any concerts where I might need a slightly heavier normal mute but have yet to use it for anything so all in all it was a bad purchase.

great mute
Pros: i have used this brand and type of mute for years , for general practice more to protect my ears than for other people. i have a very heavy mute but that just gives a weak sound ., this one still let you get a good idea of how you are playing. it really is the best in my opinion and a good price. great service as always from Stringzone..

Marvelous Mute.
Pros: Sits securely on the bridge Asymmetric shape matches the bridge Made of rubber, so no danger of damage When removed there is no residual effect on tone Effective muting obviates neighbour annoyance Does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Cons: None
