Beautiful sounding strings
12 out of 12 found the following review helpful

Pros: These strings have a sweet, full, rich tone. The tonal qualities between the strings is magical. They are a real pleasure to play on.

Cons: Although they sound instantly lovely, as with most strings, they improve even more after a couple of weeks playing them in.

Other: Excellent service from the stringzone as always.

Quality strings
11 out of 12 found the following review helpful

Pros: Full, rich, mellow and powerful sound. Having been a devotee of Jargar A's for many years, I would say that I may have been converted to the Larsen A when used with the D and G. Quick responce and good feel under the fingers.

Cons: Did not like the C enough to keep it as part of the set so have replaced with a Spirocore Tungsten C which has lifted the whole set up a notch. The Larsen C seems not to be as nice as the A, D & G strings and I found that it didn't allow the bottom of my cello to resonate as well.

Other: Excellent service from The Stringzone, as always - thank you :)

Pros: Quite an improvement on my previous strings, nice tone on A, D & G but...

Cons: couldnt cope with C string, too resonant. Had to go back to previous sort. will have to keep Larsen as a spare!

Lovely strings, good value, well worth buying
7 out of 7 found the following review helpful

Pros: I bought these to replace a worn-out set of Jargar strings on my first cello, a £650 Chinese model. I had enjoyed playing Larsens on other cellos, so I thought I would splash out on some. I fitted them myself (slightly stressful, as it was my first time - but not too difficult). I like the smooth, balanced sound they produce, particularly the A string. From my limited experience of playing cello for four years, they feel more responsive to vibrato and to changes in dynamics. I'm very happy with them.

Cons: The only 'con' was the price, which made me hesitate - but The String Zone was the best value I found online, plus they should last four years...says my teacher. Although delivery was prompt, even with the free service I chose, in retrospect I would feel more comfortable paying for delivery next time because they are an expensive item. They did arrive in perfect condition, but you get what you pay for!

Other: I'm very happy with The String Zone and would use them again.

Larsen Cello Strings worth every penny
7 out of 7 found the following review helpful

Pros: These strings are kind to my daughter's fingers. They make the Cello resonate with a pure sound. They tune easily and stay in tune.

Cons: Only the price is off-putting but in the end worth every penny.

Excellent strings - very pleased
5 out of 5 found the following review helpful

Pros: I'm very happy with my Larsen strings. They provide an even tone across the finger board and the sound remains clear up above 4th position on the C and G strings. The tone is rich and interesting and my cello sounds alive. People seem to unanimously like Larsen D & A strings and while I totally agree I was really amazed with the C string. It was very clear and powerful from day one. The G took a while to calm down and settle in but it was worth the wait and after a month the entire set sounds great. Very pleased.

Cons: The G string took quite a long time (3 weeks or so) to settle down. It sounded very harsh at first but now it sounds great. Also cello strings are so expensive. This isn't a negative comment about Larsen strings though... I just think all cello strings are ridiculously over priced.

Expensive but what a sound they make! Worth it!
5 out of 6 found the following review helpful

Pros: I bought these strings for my daughter. They really enhance the vibration of the Cello wood. They make a beautiful sound from soft to loud and all in between. My daughter tells me the Larsen strings are kinder to her fingers than other strings and that her bow glides effortlessly over the strings making her playing feel even more exciting for her and sounding wonderful too. I have to agree: her playing has certainly improved since getting the Larsen strings.

Cons: The biggest drawback about the Larsen Cello Strings is the cost. That is not the only drawback. Once you play on and listen to someone playing a Cello with Larsen Strings you can tell instantly and no other sound comes near. My daughter will not play on any other strings now. I only want to hear her play on Larsen strings. But it's worth it.

Good even tone, mellow sound
3 out of 3 found the following review helpful

Pros: Lovely even tone so that string crossing tonality changes are minimised in a great way

Cons: The C string was not as meaty as my old set, though mellow, I prefer a harsher sound, so you know I'm there
