Fab, happy with these as always!
6 out of 8 found the following review helpful

Pros: I like these strings - the price is the same as Dominants (sometimes cheaper!) but the quality of sound isn't so metallic. I always use them.

Cons: They're a bit beyond the price range of total beginners like some of my pupils (£28 a set seems a lot to them, they'd rather pay £2 for a crummy replacement string that sounds harsh).

Corelli Crystals Violin strings review
1 out of 1 found the following review helpful

Pros: The Corelli Crystals improved the sound of my student violin immediately. G and D strings in particular, give out a lovely rich clear tone.

Cons: I wasn't overly amazed with the E.

Rich, mellow and responsive
2 out of 3 found the following review helpful

Pros: I play folk music on a German violin which is over 120 years old and the Corelli Crystal strings work very well for me indeed. They are very responsive and the sound is rich and mellow without any dullness. They take a little longer than the Jager strings I used to use to settle in, but they then hold their tuning extremely well. They last well and the price is very reasonable.

Cons: No negative aspects in my opinion.

Mellow sound but not bright.
2 out of 3 found the following review helpful

Pros: They're not too expensive.

Cons: I was recommended these strings but actually found them disappointing. They don't have the brightness that I was hoping for. Some players may prefer the mellowness though!

Normally good but this set was not.

Pros: I've used Corelli Crystals for several years and been really pleased with them, they normally settle well, have good resonance and suit my violin.

Cons: This set was a real disappointment. Four months and a lot of playing later they still hadn't settled - literally needed significant retuning at the beginning and during every session. I'd been waiting for them to sound better but they just didn't have the usual tone, warmth and resonance. I'm not sure if you can just get a duff set, but I've now changed strings.

So far so good, quality strings at a good price.

Pros: I've only just strung and started playing this violin which has been in hibernation for a number of years, probably decades. They went on well and seem to have stretched and bedded in rapidly. They seem to suit the violin and speak boldly but not brassily, don't seem to suffer from the squeaks and allow the violin its full range of high and low frequency vibrations. Dynamic range seems pretty good. I'll know more when the violin has opened up properly. I normally play on Eudoxa strings so I may change over to these at some point, but for now they are doing a very good job and were a good value buy.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Mellow alternative to my Dominants; not quite !

Pros: Light guage make them more responsive. Encouraging better bowing technique

Cons: Wasn't what I needed, though this is not the fault of the strings.

Other: I was looking for a set of strings to make my violin more mellow. I kept my original e string so I have a spare 'crystal e string'. Will experiment with combinations of dominants on G, D, A with Crystal and dominants.
