Natural gut, plain end for Baroque and Classical performance.
Strings specially designed for use on Baroque instruments.
Good strings but they wear out too quickly
Pros: I like playing on gut strings and find Pirastro Chorda a well-matched set on the whole. They provide a range of sounds that I find ideally suited to the requirements of music of the later 18th and early 19th centuries. They also work well with music of the 17th and earlier 18th centuries.
Cons: I recently had two A strings which frayed and unravelled very quickly: neither of them lasted a month. Perhaps they were from a faulty batch. The A string I have on now, from a subsequent purchase, shows no sign of wear after at least 8 weeks fairly intensive use. Perhaps better quality control at the point of manufacture would help?
