* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
The original and best known synthetic cored string. Regarded as the reference standard for this type of string. Well adapted to give excellent playing properties on any instrument.
Dominant strings give a warm and clear sound which closely approximates to a traditional covered gut string. Tonally stable and easy to play on they suitable for all players beginner to professional.
Medium tension strings. For other tensions please click the link above.
NB The set 135 with aluminium wound E is the traditional and well known version of these strings. The aluminium winding being a more suitable choice for learners as it is easier to produce a clear sound without whistles or overtones. The set 135B features a plain Chrome plated steel E which will appeal to advanced players for its clarity and projection.
Aluminium E Set with ball end only. For loop end E set please order four individual strings.
Steel E set (135B) E has a loop end with a separate ball to fit if required.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.
4/4 - LOB 356mm (14")
3/4 - LOB 330mm (13")
1/2 - LOB 305mm (12")
1/4 - LOB 280mm (11")
1/8 - LOB 254mm (10")

The essential modification for any economy violin
Pros: A large jump in quality compared with economy strings without a large jump in price
Cons: Nothing
Other: I used these strings to revitalise my old violin that I had not played in years. Now I need something to revitalise the player:)

No surprises, but no disappointments, either.
Pros: As ever, Dominant deliver. I tend to buy these strings because they're what I was using when I was younger, and I've never felt a strong urge to change.
Cons: Well, obviously, I'd love it if they were cheaper...!

Dominant - good quality at a reasonable price
Pros: I've always been happy with the Dominant strings. They produce a crisp, clear sound which resonantes well. I have tried other makes of varying prices but have always returned to Dominant. A good qaulity string for a reasonable price.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: As ever, Dominant Violin Strings are excellent quality, quick to settle and suit my instrument better than any other string in the same price range.
Cons: The A string in particular is prone to unwind before any other and always in the same place (just above the d ((ie. 3rd finger d string)) ).
Other: Consistent quality strings that settle quickly, ideal for playing inside and outside.
