Please note that due to the central position this chinrest may not fit high arched instruments without some adjusttment, if at all.

Great quality but heavy
Pros: I'm really getting on well with the middle position and the rest feels good quality and sturdy.
Cons: Unfortunately, it's very heavy. It's really put the balance off on my violin - I think if I didn't have a pickup with a jack output mounted too, it would probably be fine but the combination of those two has made it too heavy for me.

Great chin rest
Pros: Really comfortable chin rest, nice shape. No lump that needs filing down.
Cons: None
Other: I had a side-mounted chin rest for ages, had it filed down and worked on to fit me better but it still wasn't right for me. I'm really glad I switched to this centre-mounted rest instead. No more shoulder and neck aches.

A flawless product just didn't suit my body.
Pros: I bought this version of the Flesch Chin rest after purchasing the old style model from a local Violin shop. I was buying a new chin rest for my Viola as the chin rest which came with it - as with every chin rest that comes with the instrument - was not adequate to fill the gap between the top plate of the instrument and my lower jaw. This is vitally important for me as I play without a shoulder rest on both my Violin and Viola. On the old Flesh, I found that the W shape on the outside did not provide me the proper support to keep the instrument from slipping away from my body - at this time I was new to playing without a shoulder rest and so had not quite figured the role of the left hand in the support of the instrument and so the instrument would rotate with the point of contact on my collarbone as the epicenter and so causing me to be very uncomfortable whilst playing. So I determined that the new style Flesch would provide better support due to the absence of the W hump around the edge. While I immediately noticed the greater amount of support I had due to the unchanging lip of the new style Flesch product, I still did not have the adequate space filled and so would find myself in pain rather quickly into practice sessions.

Good Chin rest
Pros: Really comfortable.
Cons: I have been spending a bit of time on it to get used to having my jaw bone stay in the centre the whole time, other than that I am liking the centre mounted chin rest, it makes sense for me, but I understand it is a very personal thing. I must mention the new chin rest has changed the way I grip the violin, hence slightly different way to do vibrato, bowing angle is slightly different too, I think it is because with the traditional left mounted chin rest, a violin is generally higher on G&D strings, low on A&E strings, centre mounted chin rest can provide that flat angle, for the price it is worth a try. I guess this is not Cons if you are open to experiment!
