Pros:
I've a locally made violin (1996) which I've found difficult to play for years, to the point of trying to sell it. After running through Dominants, Helicores, Prims, Infelds etc. I thought I have one more more go, and after reading all the reviews on this site and elsewhere, decided to try these strings. And was very pleasantly surprised. The fiddle 'speaks' much quicker, there's more 'presence' to the sound, and the tone is much sweeter. A set of Evah Parazzi had much the same effect, but there was something about those I didn't like.
Cons:
I also bought a set for a self-made fiddle, and was equally pleased with the results. However, I play a lot of Old Time tunes, and the 'G' broke when trying to tune it up to 'A', which has never happened to me before. Given the price of a replacement I won't do that again, so it's back to Prims for that carry-on. 4/5 in the review for that reason. They took a week to arrive after posting, but that's an issue for Royal Mail, and possibly Storm Ashley. Pricey, of course, but you get what you pay for.
Other:
I'm a fiddle player, so I typically end up playing for three hours or so in noisy locations. If it was string quartet music in a drawing room (!) I think these strings might not be the right choice.
