Pros:
Evenness across all four strings - I have not used a full set of one type of string since teenage years, when I used Jargar soft. The A string has power with depth and the D (which is easy to tune with the peg, rather than an adjuster) is a fine bridge between the bass and treble ends of the instrument, an 1840 John Lott. I've always used gut strings on this cello until moving to synthetics such as Synoxa. Happy to be back to gut. The top two strings having a steel core seems to make no difference to the playing approach across the range. My F wolf note on the G string is also much more manageable.
