Review of Primavera Loreato Viola Outfit

London, United Kingdom

Grade 8+

inadequte bow

Pros: Objectively, it's what you should expect for the money, i.e. ideal for a beginner.

Cons: The tone is more like my Stentor violin than my antique French workshop violin, of course. More realistically It's nowhere near as good as my friend's Primavera violin. The bow is the biggest let-down - initially a CF bow rather than the usual cheap wooden bow is a nice surprise, but it is so supple as to be flabby, which means it's impossible to produce good tone with it. I'd be very surprised if making it stiffer would incur extra manufacturing expense.
