I've wanted to try these for a while, so when I needed to replace a whole set, it seemed like a good opportunity. My violin is mellow, and I was hoping to enhance this mellow tone rather than compensate for it. I was surprised, that not only did the strings produce a lovely rounded tone, they also made my violin sing (a 'full', not 'strident' sound), rather than making it duller. The E string especially! I know that it's very specific to the violin though. It just happens to suit mine.
