Review of Everest Standard Violin Shoulder Rest.

ELY, United Kingdom

Keen Amateur

A good product that must be set up correctly.

Pros: A comfortable shoulder rest that stays on if set up correctly. I have the longer feet that enable me to bridge the gap between chin and shoulder.

Cons: The feet have to be set symmetrically with respect to a line from scroll to tail piece with the feet tangential to the edge of the back plate or the rest will gradually move towards a collapsed state as the feet will not sit perfectly. This ought to be stressed in the set-up information. It feels as though the screws of the feet are bedding into plastic. If so, I would prefer the feet to bed into a brass plug moulded into the surrounding plastic. This would add longevity to the rest. You would then have the perfect shoulder rest!
