The Bonmusica violin shoulder rest. Pliable metal base allows for a high degree of custom fit.

This rest can be customised to a very high level and is ideal for players who feel their instrument can slip down, especially in the higher playing positions.

The hook can be moved to provide a good anchorage at the prefered playing position. Height and tilt in 2 planes combined with a bendable plate allow an almost infinite range and will enable the vast majority of players to achieve a comfortable playing experience.

  • Pliable baseplate for custom fit
  • Height and tilt adjustable-extra long legs available
  • Replacement parts available

Excellent rest for long-necked orchestral players
1 out of 1 found the following review helpful

Pros: - Good support for a violinist with a long neck. - The curved support can be bent to fit perfectly on your shoulder, or adjusted for different thicknesses of concert wear. - Unlike previous rests, the violin didn't twist away from the arm, even in long orchestral rehearsals. - It was on sale, so wasn't much more expensive than Kuns etc.

Cons: - Looks industrial rather than elegant.

Ergonomic and Good-looking.

Pros: I bought it as a present for my wife, Gail Williams. She had to take a fair few goes to get it to fit. A friend who uses a Bonmusica came round and gave her some guidance. Then Gail figured it out, and now it is fine. Player is happy.

Cons: Trying to figure out how best to use it. But I think this will be true for a good many people. It's a bit like trying to put up a new frame tent first time.

Other: Great product for patient players.

Best so far
1 out of 1 found the following review helpful

Pros: Adjustable, comfortable, secure. Does not fall off!

Cons: When taking violin down from playing position, you have to remember to allow space for the part that goes over the shoulder. You soon get used to it.

Nearly there

Pros: Does give a good stable position on shoulder

Cons: Design of adjustable brackets is crude, they look as if they can be adjusted quite a bit but in reality when you try it they lock on the shoulder rest metal parts and canT go any further. It can go higher but not lower.

Other: Difficult to fit in my violin case.

Bliss from the first moment

Pros: Bliss from the moment I put it on my shoulder - as a long-necked person, I had a lot of trouble finding a good fit, and this is the fifth (and thankfully final) model of shoulder rest I've had. It feels reassuringly stable, absolutely comfortable, and there is a host of adjustments one could make if needed. These things are very subjective, but for me this is in a different league from all the others I tried.

Cons: None

Good, but outrageously expensive

Pros: Yes, it is better than other shoulder rests. But taking into account the outrageous price, it is disappointing

Cons: Bonmusica have added an extra zero to the price. The Bonmusica shoulder rest will not fit in any normal violin case
