50 years after the debut of Dominant, Thomastik-Infeld presents its latest string revolution: DOMINANT PRO
With this new product, Thomastik-Infeld are not aiming to change the basic character of DOMINANT, but rather to offer an additional, contemporary repertoire of strings.
Designed for both solo and orchestral use. That is because they can handle the entire range of dynamics, from piano (p) to fortississimo (fff), and the use of high bow pressure.
A dark, warm tone, more focused, and responds more directly than Dominant strings. Despite their direct response, they give musicians the possibility to create a broad range of sound colours. The string tensions have been increased by an incremental amount to adapt the resistance to bow pressure to suit the extended playing requirements of musicians without overburdening their instrument.

Pros: Amazing. First set of strings I've used that sounded great straight out of the pack. They hold their tuning incredibly well too for a new set, which is just as well since the A was an emergency change just before a session. Lovely round tone, no harshness anywhere, handle high bow pressure amazingly well. Looks like I've found a new favourite.
