Long established quality rosin originally produced by W.E. Hill and Sons. In fabric wrapper. Choose between dark, cello and light, violin/viola. A good quality all round rosin. Quite firm, but low dust.

Pros: After using light rosin for the four years or so I've been playing viola (the same rosin I use(d) with the fiddle), I read an article suggesting the use of dark rosin for viola which I had never considered. 3-4 weeks in and it really did seem to make an immediate difference - the tone seemed deeper, smoother even more complex. There definitely seems to be less in the way of screeches I'm almost certain that this is not just in my head as my wife also noticed a bit of a difference. Definitely worth a try - and it's less expensive than experimenting with lots of different strings...
Cons: Nothing bad to say so far...

Pros: Changed to Hill rosin light to see if I could improve my sound. Also changed strings to Superflexibles. I am happy with the improvement. I use more of this rosin than the brand I used previously and have to put on more during a session but I am happy with the improvement.
Cons: No cons
Other: Reasonable price.

Pros: Low dust, nice & grippy. Produces a beautiful sound on my viola. I also use it on my violin & cello bows. Not too sticky for violin, but still enough for cello.
Cons: The felt pudding style fabric is all that protects it. I keep dropping rosins on hard floors & breaking them.
