Great dark sound strings with flexible/light feel
13 out of 16 found the following review helpful

Pros: Very smooth to touch, the windings don't fluff up. Instant dark sound on basses (EA) and good treble definition (DG). Bow sound comes easy and full. Strings may be too flexible for more experience players with stronger hands, but for me they are spot on. Better for my bass then spiros light I had before as the sound is more rubber (gut) then steel (harsh).

Cons: The price obviously could be lower, however you get a lot of quality. No issues and should be a lasting string.

Other: Good all around, my teacher was impressed with the arco tone. Since my bass is a cheap one much of the sound quality is due to the strings themselves. They should sound better on better basses.

The automatic choice for professionals.

Pros: These have the same silken surface quality that you expect from Pirastro with a surprisingly springy core. I use them on my Electric Upright Double Basses as they have a good sustain from playing pizzicato without any metallic twang.

Cons: Nothing

Great strings for arco & pizz – lovely sound.

Pros: (this is for the Weich variation) I was fortunate enough to be given a long term loan of a double bass. It hadn't been played for 20 years and I decided to put a set of Evah Pirazzi Weich strings on, hoping to improve the sound and playability (in conjunction with making some adjustments to the bridge). The strings sound fantastic – a big improvement on the 30 year old Spirocore Mittles that were on the bass previously (which were probably past their best to be fair), nice, tight sound, great for jazz pizz and also bows very nicely indeed. I chose the Evahs because a lot of reviews suggested they're among the best hybrid strings available and my experience so far confirms that. I reckon it's a really nice string, though you might like to bear in mind as a beginner my experience is limited.

Cons: They're a little higher in tension than I thought they'd be. I deliberately chose the Weich (soft) rather than the regular gauge, as I thought they'd be easier on the left hand, but not a deal breaker.

A good bass string?
7 out of 8 found the following review helpful

Pros: I tried a set on a bass I borrowed and liked them for the pronounced attack that they give to the pizz sound. Nice big sound. I do mainly jazz and these work nicely on my regular bass. I'm using the lighter set. Can't comment on the bowing sound because I don't do enough of this. Better than Obligato's or Thomastik Spirocore for jazz on my bass.

Cons: None except every time you try a different string its an expensive experiment really.

Pros: Gaining in popularity with players

Cons: The extra cost.

Other: As a dealer in basses I am regularly asked to fit them in preference to other strings by orchestral players

Magnificent all around strings
5 out of 6 found the following review helpful

Pros: This set is brilliant. I got them recommended by my double bass teacher to buy these as they sre both excellent for jazz and also suitable for bow and orchestral music. I am very pleased with the sound of the strings, and also the delivery time.

Cons: So far there has not been a single bad thing about these strings, the only thing was that they were thicker so i had to file down the nut and the bridge a bit to make them fit properly.

Excellent hybrid string.
5 out of 7 found the following review helpful

Pros: These strings have a big dark warm sound, and project well. I have found them to work well for both arco and pizzicato playing. They are perhaps the best hybrid string I have used.

Cons: They are a big gauge of string and require a liittle more effort to play than some I have used.

Excellent product and service
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Only pro's to tell you about. The strings I ordered are fabulous - I chose these after visiting the site of a player I liked (John Parker) and saw that he was using them. I play mainly folk and blues/jazz. Price was good/competitive, the strings themselves are great and have improved my playing and sound/tone, and service was second to none. Was expecting 2 to 3 day delivery and they arrived the day after ordering. Excellent all round.

Cons: no cons for me

Other: excellent

Great string, in my view
3 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: I've used Evah Pirazzi strings since 2012 : this is the first time I've changed them. (I play around 2 hours a day, mainly bowing - a little jazz as well.) They last a long time, they keep their tonal properties throughout, they stay in tune very well. They sound good, at least on my bass. I don't see any reason to change. Although it's clear that different strings give different sounds, most of the tone comes from what you do with your left and, especially, right arm. Besides, it costs a fortune to change them all the time in the search for the "perfect string".....

Cons: Nothing

Other: Vey rapid service from The String Zone : thanks
