Description

Benchmark Pirastro E string. Removable ball end. Higher tension than standard E. The new Platinum-E provides the violinist with an immense abundance of sound colours, an overtone-rich radiance to its large warm core tone, and a wide sound projection.

The market leader in professional grade orchestral strings. Intense and brilliant sound with the widest possible dynamic range. These strings are best suited to advanced student and professional players and work best on high quality instruments.

Available in three tensions, Evah Pirazzi strings have a core made from a modern synthetic multifilament fibre which contributes to a very intensive and powerful sound. Ideally suited to orchestral and solo playing.

The strings have outstanding playability and exceptional response at any of the dynamic levels, a complex sound, rich with overtones based on a brilliant core sound and enormous projection.

Expressive, with great nuances and enormous dynamic range combined with outstanding tuning stability. These strings are absolutely insensitive to variations in temperature and humidity and are also suitable for electric violins or violins equipped with piezo-pickups.

This string is designed to work as both ball & loop end, If you'd like to use this string as a loop end 'E', please gently remove the ball.

Using a loop end E? The use of a protector to prevent the tuner hook breaking the string is essential with loop end E strings. We cannot accept claims for strings broken by the adjuster hook. Click here to purchase this item.

Doesn't work for me

Pros: Powerful rich sound

Cons: Almost too loud. Would be acceptable if did not whistle. The only Es that do not whistle on my violin (1810 Richard Tobin) are the gold Passione solo, and the Thomastik Spirocore wound E. Disappointing, I was hoping the Pirazzi platinum would be a good solution, but will have to revert to Passione or Spirocore

So close, but yet so far.

Pros: Really loud, non-harsh in character, settles in quickly.

Cons: Really frustrating whistle on open string. One can even get a full bow's worth of ring if you practise.

Other: Would have been 5 stars if it hadn't been for its unfortunate shortcomings. One would expect that at this price they would be selling a string that had undergone more testing. The rest of the strings by Pirastro are really worth a look at, very good quality if you're ready to pay a bit more.

Grade 8+

The cure for a weak E string.
1 out of 1 found the following review helpful

Pros: Well, this is a mighty string for volume and power. If your E it a bit quiet like mine was, it might be the answer. I suspect it might lack some of the zingy top of the other silver Evah Es - but that will suit some fiddles and some players. Haven't had it on long enough to assess durability, but that's not a problem with any Evah string. If you're not sure you need it, you could buy two pints of ale with the price gap between this and a basic Evah E and there's nothing wrong with that string either.

Cons: Maybe slightly lacking in clarity and zing, but what do you want?
