Pros:
The sound coming from my D-string has been transformed by switching from a standard Oliv-D to a Stiff Oliv-D. The meatiness and the responsiveness of the sound is incredible, without any loss of the quality or nuance you expect from an Oliv.
Cons:
There is nothing I don't like. I'll go so far to say that it may well lead me to indefinitely postpone buying a new violin, so immense is the positive change, and this will save me thousands of £s and a great deal of playing in.
Other:
I've been playing on Olivs for 20 years and didn't expect a huge difference, but it is remarkable. If you're playing on a violin you love and cherish, but that is underpowered on the bottom strings, give these a go. Switching to the Stiff D and G on my violin is the most positive change I have made over the last few years that didn't involve a lot of practice.
