Nice to play but A string doesn't last for long
3 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: From a parent's viewpoint - softer sound but still projecting well, nice to play on as soft to touch, stays tuned up after initial 3-5 days of setting in. The E string seems really good, better than any other E strings we have had. Doesn't whistle, probably due to patented technology they use when they made them - it comes as a straight string with a coiled section like a spring which stretches out as you tune it up - vibrates more without the metallic sound.

Cons: Not sure how long the strings are designed/expected to last for. We had to change the D and A string after 5 or 6 weeks of regular practice as the A string winding snapped and started to uncoil and D string followed - and it wasn't down to incorrect placing/setting. The new A string lasted only for 2 weeks; ordered the 3rd replacement. E and G strings seem fine, so is the D string now.

Other: £16 per string which lasts 14 days is pricey. On the other hand, trying to buy it elsewhere costs even more - even from the manufacturer. We might try some other strings sets and see if they last for longer but perhaps keep Warchal E string on.

Warchal amber

Pros: My daughter loves Warchal Ambers. They suit her violin much better than thomastic dominants she used before.

Cons: They take while to settle so be prepared to do a lot of tuning.
