Description
If you live in a remote area or have difficulty finding a good rehair we have the solution. We can rehair your bow to the highest standard with top quality white hair. We have many professional players who use our service and we are confident you will be very impressed with the results. The effect of a good rehair on tone production can be quite substantial.
- Leather Thumbpiece and/or Silver-Lapping work does NOT include a re-hair. A re-hair is priced separately.
- If you'd like these extra improvements made to your bow then please add them to your basket in ADDITION to the re-hair.
How it works:
Place your order according to whether you need a tube or not. We will send you labels and a tube if ordered, enabling you to forward your bow to our workshop. We recommend using either Royal Mail Special Delivery or a trackable Courier service e.g. via www.parcel2go.com. When the work is complete your bow will be returned to you by Special Delivery (included in the price), usually, in 7-10 days. Please call us on 01273 446809 if you require further details or advice.
If we consider additional work is advised or that the quality of the bow does not justify a rehair we will contact you to discuss this. If you require an estimate or quote for other work please contact us in advance.
Please note: we cannot work on any bows with clip-in, removable, re-hair systems. If you are at all unsure as to whether your bow is fit for us to work on, please contact us before sending your bow to the workshop.
We use white hair for our Bass bow re-hairs. Please be advised our bow tube will not fit a German style bass bow.

Pros: Great service - quick, hassle free and very clear instructions
Cons: No way to track the status of the shipment back from the workshop. It was close to over the 5 days expected to receive the bow back and I was worried about it getting lost. It was all ok, as expected, but would be good to have peace of mind. Perhaps a call/email from the workshop when the bow is sent back so we know when to expect it.

Pros: This was very convenient for me and I felt confident that the bow was going to someone who would know what they were doing and it wouldn't be a "cowboy" kind of job. The tube arrived quickly and it was a simple process to insert the bow into the tube. I did pad it out with some kitchen roll at each end to stop the bow moving too much during transit. The destination label was enclosed in the tube along with clear instructions about what to do. I put the bow in, sealed the tube, stuck the label on and took it to the local post office - simple. When it came back it was wrapped in a long piece of bubble wrap inside the tube which was good - perhaps this could be put in the empty tube first so that the bow can be wrapped more safely for the outward journey?
Cons: As other reviewers have said I would have liked to know when the bow was on its way back because I was out on the day when delivery was attempted and then the sorting office was not open the next day to collect the bow and we had to wait all over the bank holiday. Knowing the arrival day would be good. The service was not as quick as some other people have experienced and I was starting to worry. I could see that the bow had arrived at the destination because I used Special Delivery and could see a signature (squiggle) on the Royal Mail website but no idea when it started its return journey.
Other: The bow is for my son - as soon as he started to play with it the sound was a vast improvement on what it had been like before. It now has a much richer sound and makes the cello sing out, even in places where it had previously sounded scratchy. There was no need to add more rosin so he was able to start playing straight away. I would definitely use this service again and would recommend it. I have another son with a violin - not sure if the price is the same for a much smaller bow? Guess I'll find out when it needs rehairing but I hope it is less.

Pros: There are two definite pros. The first is that the service is very efficient and easy to engage with. The second is that the quality of the rehair is outstanding. Never has my instrument sounded so good, or being so easy to play. It has taken my tone to another level altogether. Prior to this rehair, the bow hair was that provided by the manufacturer (Codabow - I have a Marquise I bought from The String Zone about 18 months ago) and I thought that was good, but now it's so much better.
