Top quality handmade rosin for Violin, Viola and Cello. Made in Greece entirely from natural products from local suppliers. One of the only producers to maintain the tradition of tapping colophony direct from living trees. Fresh as it gets and fresher still with manufacture restricted to small production runs.
100% recyclable packaging to celebrate 20 years of Melos Rosin.
Cork is an incredibly versatile and natural material. It is harvested from living cork oak-trees similar to resin harvested from pine-trees. The packaging design is focused on protecting the rosin from everyday life, while drastically minimizing our environmental footprint. Cork is:
• thermally insulating, meaning that the rosin is now protected from temperature extremes • 100% recyclable • eco-friendly • anti-pollution • non-allergenic • lightweight • water-resistant • highly durable

Perfection in a 'pill box'
Pros: I thought that the new Melos rosin cork pill-box was a bit large to start with but now I think it is a very sensible idea: it protects the rosin in transit; it doesn’t need a cloth around it to hold it while putting rosin on the bow hairs; holding the cork lid to rosin the bow hairs keeps my fingers free of rosin. C’est parfait!
Cons: None
Other: This rosin perfectly supplies what I want: a slighly darker tone and good grip

Rich textured sound, not too sticky
Pros: I tend to draw the sound out rather then full in the string pressure, partly to do with type of bow. Not much is needed. Some non dark rosins I tried result in superficial sound on my setup. It gives a refined texture of sound
Cons: I keep it in a padded bag to avoid breaking it
