Description
'New Formula' quality student string similar to Dominant with the benefit of a silver D. Medium tension, ball end only. For loop end E please order each string separately.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.

Supple, sweet and mellow
Pros: Felt supple and bouncy under my fingers, and wider than the old ones so didn't cut in so much. The strings bring a sweet, mellow sound out of the violin: the instant change was like getting a significant fiddle upgrade at an extremely reasonable price (ok I liked the discount as well)!
Cons: No cons, but at my level (re-starting playing the violin after twenty years away, got to about grade 6 previously) I wouldn't expect to notice cons.
Other: The previous strings were the very basic metal ones that the violin came with, which cut into my fingers and sounded scratchy even after I'd started to recover my technique. These feel and sound like something from a different and much nicer universe. They're stretching a bit as they settle down but I gather that's normal.

Pros: I have an electric violin and these strings give it the response and clarity of sound that I need when playing.

Excellent strings superior to Dominant
Pros: mellow soft strings
Cons: I have ordered 2 sets of these for different violins & the E string on both occasions snapped near the peg while fine tuning .
Other: If I hadn't had to wait 5 or 6 days for replacement of faulty E strings I would have given 5 out of 5 rating however I have given 4 out of 5
