Pirastro Tonica Strings sound great!
Pros: I like the tone of the Tonica strings, they have a good balance between bass, middle and treble, they feel good under the fingers, not stiff, but not too flexible either. The volume is strong, excellent for public performance and they are responsive to the power exerted upon them by the bow, in other words, they are responsive to the pressure and speed of the bow giving good dynamics. They last reasonably well too!
Cons: None, other than the price!
Other: The only criticism I have is when they have been on the fiddle for a few months of regular playing they lose the lower frequencies - the tone starts to sound 'thinner', so that is the time to change the strings.

Amazing upgrade effect!
Pros: Amazing strings that have transformed the sound of my daughter's 1/4 size violin. I strongly recommend this for all budding violinists. It's not fair to expect children to learn on an instrument that can't be made to sound good. These strings bring resonance and richness.
Cons: None

Bright and bold.
Pros: Bright, crisp and bold. Huge improvement on standard strings that came with violin.
Cons: None
Other: Perhaps some may find these too bright but to be fair that could also be the violin or player. I would not describe them as a mellow sounding string. Overall pleased with the purchase and performance. Good fast service from string zone.

Good sounding Violin strings at a sensible price.
Pros: First, the price. They aren't shockingly expensive like some violin strings. The quality is very consistent, every set sounds like the last one, they wear in quickly, last well, I've never had one break and I make them work hard. I'm not a concert violinist, I'm a folk fiddler and play in a ceilidh band and for a folk dance team, this means that I play for four hours at a stretch, a test for any strings, and they last for about 4 to 6 months of regular work and practice.
Cons: They are strong in the middle and treble on my acoustic fiddle, giving a bright sound, I would like more warmth in the lower register, but, according to friends who have heard me perform, say my fiddle sounds well balanced across the strings so it may be that the fiddle sounds 'toppy' close up but ok further away, which is alright by me.
Other: I like them and am unlikely to change strings for a different brand.
