Description

Zyex Composite synthetic core strings produce an extremely warm, rich sound.

Zyex is a new generation of synthetic material, creating strings that are extremely stable under drastic climatic conditions. Zyex strings settle in on the instrument very fast, within a matter of hours.

Zyex has a warmer sound than most other synthetic core strings, and they have excellent projection, making them exceptional for soloist use as well as symphonic and for calming down the tone of very bright instruments.

I wouldn't use any other strings than Zyex

Pros: I've experimented with lots of different strings but Zyex strings bring out the best sound from my 1877 Bailley violin, they maintain intonation well and they are reasonably priced to boot!

Cons: eh? There's nothing I don't like!

Zyex strings - excellent for players at all levels
7 out of 7 found the following review helpful

Pros: Zyex are excellent strings for players of all levels of experience. I use them instead of covered gut strings, as I live in a Mediterranean climate, with extremes of temperature. Once they are settled in, I hardly ever have to adjust their tuning, even in hot weather. I have recommended them to my students, as they give a warm, smooth tone, and are easy to play on.

Cons: I can see no disadvantages.

Good, but could be cheaper for what you get!

Pros: Settled really fast! Sounds great!

Cons: After a while, the responsiveness of the strings is greatly reduced, however the warmth and tone is still there.

Make your banjo players ears ring!
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Beautiful sounding synthetic gut strings, clear and crisp, mellow and long lasting, and they can compete alongside a runaway bluegrass banjo for volume and clarity. They take a day or so to bed in and keep in tune, but after that they remain true and intune, busking outside or in a steamy pub session.Extremely long lasting, ( if you keep your fingernails short !), perhaps 2 or three months of vigorous, enthusiastic playing. Expensive but more than worth it for the quality and sheer penetration of sound. I can remember the first fiddle I fitted with them and was amazed at the difference they made, like having a new, and better one.

Cons: Ridiculously expensive really ( you wind them on VERY carefully !) and the A string always seems to be the first string to go, by unwinding and wearing under your fingertips. I often have to replace the A string before I change the rest. I also can detect very little difference between silver wound or aluminium wound D strings, and prefer medium tension, well balanced.

Other: Fit them ! You will be astonished at the difference ! MP

***dy awful
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Deep, rich, clear + clean sound. Complements not such a good instrument. Recommended by my old teacher :)

Cons: I ordered the Medium tension, however these strings never settled and like to pull/jump off the violin literally at any given opportunity (making it extremely difficult to tune from the pegs - definitely not medium) I have never had this with any other strings and for this reason could not recommend. The sound, whilst clean, clear and rather nice feels a little artificial.

Other: Violin used (Old German) student violin

Pricey but worth every penny
2 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: A great sound. Mellow but with plenty of volume. With these strings the fiddle holds its own when playing with other instruments eg accordion. The sound also carries well when playing outside.

Cons: I found you have to play with plenty of confidence. If you're a bit wobbly it will show! (Especially the A string)

Other: The most expensive strings I've bought so far, but worth it!
